The Lawyer Finance Senior Lead is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within their own field and contributes to directional strategy. They are a recognized technical authority for an area within the business, and an applicant is required to have commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. A succesful Lawyer Finance Lead has developed communication and diplomacy skills in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. They will have significant impact on the area through complex deliverables and provide advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Their work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the job family.
Responsibilities:
Management of the Collections and Collateral unit within Wealth at Work – Law Firm Group Partner Lending unit.
Direct line management of a team of Specialists.
Past Due Obligations (PDO) monthly processes:
Chair weekly PDO meeting. Lead follow up on any items discussed.
Compile the monthly/quarterly PDO reporting for senior management.
Analyze trends of delinquent / expired facilities and project future trends.
Collateral management responsibilities include:
Covenant monitoring and the related remediation of events of non-compliance.
Robust underwriting and risk assessment including portfolio management activities.
Generating the annual Partner Capital Loan Reconciliation report.
Assist the banker team on general enquiries regarding facilities or delinquencies.
Client liaison, including email and telephone contact regarding PDO’s. Ensure collection efforts adhere to policy.
Seek approval for waiver of non-accrual or write-off. Follow up with risk & remedial management regarding delinquent matters.
Prepare various risk management reports such as covenant deferral and Classified Credit Memo.
Evaluate existing analytical tools and, in partnership with IT, enhance risk management platforms to create more efficient systematic processes.
Review and improve the design and implementation of an effective and consistent control framework.
Ensure accuracy of data. Work with Loan Ops to correct loans bookings.
Knowledge & Experience:
6-10 years of experience.
A deep understanding of the loan product, including loan accounting concepts.
A good knowledge of reading and interpreting credit agreements is required.
Key analytical capabilities, including the ability to identify, escalate, and propose solutions to complex problems.
Experience in managing large remediation efforts and meeting critical deadlines.
A track record of establishing key operating standards and KPIs/metrics is a plus.
An understanding of process redesign/re-engineering and execution.
A proven ability to collaborate and maintain relationships with team members and senior management both within the lines of business and across multiple stakeholders.

Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work in an environment where priorities are frequently changing.
Developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communication capability, to build and sustain relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders.
Ability to take initiative and self-motivate.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Understanding of lending rules and regulations.
Knowledge of accounting is a plus.
Education:
Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
