About the Team
The Business and Corporate Communications team is a nimble team within Global Public Affairs that covers a broad scope of responsibilities in a dynamic and fast-moving environment. The team is responsible for designing and driving communications efforts that span external communications, internal communications, sponsorships and corporate social responsibility for our lines of business and functions.

This role reports to the SVP leading Tech, Digital & Data, on the Global Consumer Bank Communications team.

About the Role

This is a key role on the Global Consumer Bank Communications Team.  Citi’s Global Consumer Bank (GCB) is a global leader in banking and wealth management, the world’s largest credit card issuer and a partner of choice globally to the world’s most iconic brands and digital leaders. The Global Consumer Bank serves more than 100 million clients in the U.S., Mexico and Asia.

This role will help support executive communications for the GCB Heads of Technology, Digital, Business Development and Analytics. This includes media interviews, talking points, media statements, press releases, speaking engagements, social media profile building and engagement and issues management. In addition, this role will have primary responsibility for social media strategy and content for GCB senior leadership.   

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Key member of Global Consumer Bank team, responsible for supporting the SVP leading Communications for Technology, Digital and Data with media relations, issues management, product PR, executive positioning and thought leadership.

  • Core priorities are executive positioning to amplify Citi’s thought leadership and industry recognition; promotion of new U.S. digital products, features and capabilities; and driving the social media strategy, content and calendar for Consumer Bank leadership.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with media covering Citi, technology and the banking industry.

  • Help draft communications materials, including press releases, talking points, media statements, speeches and presentations.

  • Help manage press activities, speaking engagements, award program entries, interviews, briefing materials and executive social profiles.

  • Monitor media coverage and industry developments to identify risks and opportunities, with a focus on anticipating issues, shaping messaging and Citi’s positioning in media.

  • Work as a partner with other Global Public Affairs teams including Branding, Government Affairs, Community Development as well as other Global Functions including Human Resources, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Finance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field

  • At least 3-5 years of work experience in media relations

  • Experience pitching financial, business and tech publications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • A team player with a track record of success delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated project management, prioritization, and decision-making skills

  • Able to effectively work cross-functionally and meet multiple stakeholder needs

  • Prior experience in technology and/or fintech is preferred

  • Creative, thoughtful approach to work product and regularly brings forward new ideas

  • Takes initiative, counsels honestly and anticipates next steps and sets high standards in all areas

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with high degree of confidentiality

  • Integrity, dependability and a positive professional attitude
