Global Consumer Bank: Global Business Development VP
The role is on the Global Business Development (GBD) team within Citi’s Global Consumer Bank (GCB). GBD’s mission is to drive growth by identifying and executing transformational partnerships (with a focus on the fintech/tech space) that drive meaningful value and scale for GCB.
The GBD team has three main functional areas: Business Development, Global Networks, and Business Management & Controls. Vice Presidents report directly into the COO and serve as consultants to an array of project leads and senior stakeholders, and work across all functional areas on a project-by-project basis, supporting leadership on strategy development, deal structuring and negotiation, and project implementation.
The person in this role will be responsible for assisting senior partners to develop and implement key partnership initiatives that have a transformational impact on Citi’s consumer banking businesses. The ideal candidate will be able to establish strong working relationships across Citi and with external partners while managing multiple priorities on a day-to-day basis.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have 5 years or more of experience, preferably within business development, consumer finance, or in the payments industry
BA/BS required
Role Responsibilities:
Actively support the team in strategy development, deal structuring and negotiation, and project implementation
Perform research and analysis to identify and validate new transformational partnership opportunities for GCB
Develop a deep understanding of a partner’s asset and solutions and how they add value to Citi, and able effectively communicate that to internal partners
Conduct financial analysis and develop business cases for key growth initiatives
Lead the project management for initiatives including developing timelines and adhering to key milestones, tracking project KPIs and coordinating communications to internal and external stakeholders
Prepare and/or manage the preparation of high-quality internal/external presentations on market insights, business opportunities, industry trends, and competitor intelligence
For each project/initiative, adhere to all necessary and recommended risk and control processes to maintain strong compliance and standards of Citi. Proactively identify risks to the environment and interface with key stakeholders across the three lines of defense
Skills:
Advanced knowledge of fintech, payments, wealth management and other consumer banking industries. Closely follows recent industry news and developments
Exceptional written and verbal communication including fluency using our preferred analytical and communication tools such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word
Ability to synthesize complex quantitative data from multiple sources into fact-based and compelling proposals that facilitate decision making at the CEO level
Able to create high-level presentations and shape the narratives for internal and external senior executives and stakeholders
Understand client needs and deliver banking solutions by working cross-functionally with internal and external partners
Superior project management capabilities and comfort with a fast-pace environment – ability to manage shifting priorities and pressing timelines while maintaining strong attention to detail
Strong negotiation skills – able to persuade and influence internal and external stakeholders
