Associate General Counsel - Bank Regulatory/Transformation
Citi is seeking a highly motivated attorney with 10+ years of experience to join Citi’s Bank Regulatory Legal Group. Will provide U.S. bank regulatory legal advice and legal support to Citi’s businesses, domestic and foreign in connection with various areas of regulatory remediation. In particular, this role will be a part of the legal team supporting Citi’s Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, and the various teams that are part of that office, including: Regulatory Remediation; Regulatory Reponses; Regulatory Exam Management and Relations; Regulatory Policy; etc.
The ability to collaborate with others within the legal team supporting Citi’s Office of the Chief Administrative Officer is critical, but equally important is collaborating with the broader Bank Regulatory Legal Group, and colleagues across the entire Legal Dept. Also, the candidate must also collaborate and build relationships with colleagues in Citi’s Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, all Global Functions and Businesses. Attention to detail, strong writing and editing skills, knowledge of Citi, strong and clear communication skills, and the ability to partner with others are a must.
Citi’s Transformation has multiple components and has several program groups, including: Compliance; Culture and Accountability; Data; Management and Board Governance; Finance; etc. The role will be asked to focus on one or more of the above program groups.
This role will also be part of the Bank Regulatory Legal Group, which reviews new activities, capital investments and acquisitions, and advises on the impact of U.S. bank/bank holding company (BHC) laws and regulations on Citi, prepares U.S. bank/BHC regulatory applications for the firm, and serves as a liaison with the legal departments of the firm’s U.S. bank regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
10+ years of legal experience with a large corporation, law firm or government agency. Experience at Citi is preferred. Knowledge of existing banking/BHC regulations, statutes, agency rulings and policy is also preferred. Must have excellent analytical and advocacy skills as well as the ability to speak and write clearly, and interact with business and legal colleagues in a creative, collaborative and productive manner.
Essential Skills/Experience
• Juris Doctor (U.S.)
• 10+ years legal experience
• Attorney must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills
• Excellent writing skills
• Self-starter, capacity and willingness to take on multiple responsibilities
