This position is with the Equity Compensation Accounting Group, which manages Citi’s compliance with US GAAP and IFRS2 for our global equity compensation programs. We are looking for an analytical, team-oriented and deadline driven employee who can manage multiple deliverables at the same time. The analyst will provide governance of special complex/critical areas as well as executing highlighted controls developed within the team and will be expected to make recommendations to correct gaps in controls.  Excellent communication skills required in order to educate other teams internally, often at a senior level.  Regularly assumes informal leadership role within teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the management and control data flows to and within Finance applications to ensure integrity and completeness of data, including by preparing and updating the general ledger, recording financial transactions, and preparing of consolidated financial statements, in accordance with management reporting requirements. Also, includes specialized accounting, such as equity compensation and payroll accounting.
  • Stock Reporting for Citigroup Inc. common and treasury shares, as well as analysis of equity accounts.
  • Provide support for the intercompany chargeback settlement process, and intercompany breaks with counterparties.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliations in compliance with Citigroup’s guidelines. Use corporate wide reporting tools, and provide change requests to technology where needed to improve reporting and support of account analysis.
  • Test new reports and processing systems as a part of change requests that are raised.
  • Working with Finance, HR, Technology and Payrolls team to improve current processes. Governance of global reconciliations for all award amortization, and work with Regional Controllers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Partner with businesses within the organization to provide reporting, analysis and oversight on controls.
  • Perform regular month end file reviews and identify any control gaps.
  • Work to provide supporting documentation to Audit as needed.
  • Ensuring that financial controls are in place for all key processes and that any control weaknesses are appropriately addressed and escalated.
  • Assist with internal requests from our Corporate Reporting team to help facilitate monthly and quarterly close deliverables.
  • Take responsibility for the accurate reporting of accounting reconciliations on Citi reporting tools. Identify and appropriately highlight / escalate potential issues relating to accounts with stakeholders such as Regional Balance Sheet control group / Country controllers / Global process lead (GPL) and Global process owner (GPO) and work with them for resolution.
  • Assist in the Equity Compensation Data Warehouse monthly reporting process.
  • Learning other roles within the department to provide back-up as needed.
  • Lead and/or assist with additional department initiatives.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance. MBA and/or CPA preferred but not required.
  • 4 or more years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills. 
  • Knowledge of Micro Strategy is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, as well as Project Management skills, for managing competing priorities and expectations for senior management.
  • Self-starter who proactively seeks to improve existing controls and streamline processes.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with a wide range of people across different functions and levels of seniority. Analytical skills are a must.
