Team/Position Overview
The Institutional Clients Group (ICG) Engineering and Architecture Practice (EAP) is responsible for defining and executing core architecture and technology strategy for the Institutional Clients Group (ICG) and works across the ICG businesses (Markets, Treasury and Trade Services, Private Bank, and Shared Services) to ensure complete strategic alignment and efficiency of execution across a diverse portfolio of engineering activities, including external Cloud Capability development, Platform Architectures, and Data Engineering.
The ICG EAP is seeking Core BI & Data Engineering Lead to join our team. The hire will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing existing data systems and/or building them from the ground up. The Data Engineering Lead will support our software developers, architects, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives on-premise or cloud. This role also provides opportunities to learn new technologies, take on interesting challenges and work with a passionate diverse team. The position requires a engineering candidate with exceptional technical, leadership, and communication abilities.
The role will report into ICG’s Head of Data Engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering team focused on building core BI & Data Engineering components to support our businesses’ Data and Analytics capabilities for use across the bank
- Areas of responsibility include developing Cloud & On-premise data pipelines and ingestion frameworks, Streaming frameworks, Lineage frameworks, to support a diverse set of application and Analytical and ML use cases across the bank
- Create technology solutions and work in partnership with internal IT teams and with Cloud providers to accelerate Public Cloud Adoption and associated emerging technologies
- Work with the existing systems across ICG to optimize and make recommendations for strategic executions
- Partner with Engineering teams across Citi to create an environment that provides an optimal Developer Experience for, from IDE and CI/CD through to IaaS provisioning and Cloud Native Service on-boarding frameworks.
- Foster a culture of innovation and engineering excellence across the Enterprise: modern engineering practices, adoption of open source and open standards, creating a culture of collaboration and efficiency
Experience
- Hands-on technical leader working on complex systems and leading product-centric engineering teams
- Strong engineering expertise in building scalable Data products including Data warehouse, Messaging Platforms & Big Data Technology
- Experience driving software delivery transformation through Agile practice and process, with a focus of establishing Continuous Delivery culture and process
- Good understanding of SOA architecture
- Good understanding of secure protocols, certificates, Key exchanges, Vulnerability management, Internet facing applications, external load balancers, VIP/WIP configurations.
- Expertise in Web server hosting, APIs, Reporting framework setups and database architectures.
- Knowledge in Cloud platforms and associated Developer Toolchains, DevOps models, and best practice
- Significant experience within Open Source software
- Strong in at least one of the Programming languages and open to learn more as needed.
