Job Description

Investment Counselors (ICs) at Citi Private Bank (CPB) are dedicated to establish, grow and coordinate the investment assets of UHNW clients. The Investment Counsellor works closely with the Private Bankers and teams of product and asset class specialists to provide customized investments advice, market perspectives and strategic insight into CPB client portfolios.

  • ICs customize a long-term investment plan that addresses Clients risk, return goals and other requirements; this forms the basis of the complementary core and opportunistic portfolios that IC then help our clients to build.

  • To populate clients core and opportunistic portfolios, ICs give clients comprehensive access to global opportunities across all asset classes.

  • These opportunities are accessible via self-directed portfolios, discretionary managed portfolios, capital markets strategies, third-party traditional and alternative managers (including direct private investments).

ICs work closely with CPB Global Investment Lab to analyze client wealth and strive to uncover potential opportunities and risks.

ICs are investment experts who possess the credibility to cultivate trusting relationships with UHNW clients and should be entrepreneurial and capable of assisting the conversion of new clients/investment relationships.

A strong commercial awareness is a necessity for successful ICs.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a successful practice centered on deepening relationships by providing prospective and existing clients with appropriate investment advice and solutions across asset classes and product types

  • Primary client contact and trusted investment advisor for clients, including direct selling , determining suitability, identifying product specific opportunities, portfolio advice and after sales execution (in partnership with the Banker team)

  • Looking after UHNWI clients

  • Direct coverage of Italian speaking clients

  • Working towards agreed revenue targets

  • Take responsibility and ownership for client investment relationships

  • Provide superior advice on markets, products, and asset allocation

  • Promote new products and managers and comprehensively monitor existing ones

  • Work across currencies, asset classes, markets and jurisdictions

  • Engage and advise clients on brokerage activity and execute trades

  • Effectively ensure that client’s risk profiles (IOS) are in line with current clients positions

  • Fully recognises, regardless of size or complexity, the changes in client's environment which may present opportunities or potential threats

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Language skills: Mother tongue Italian / Fluent English

  • Solid knowledge in asset allocation process, trading (equity, FX, fixed income and derivatives) and managed investments  

  • Demonstrates strong creative and interpersonal skills coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit and selling skills

  • Broad base of execution skills, having successfully completed a range of transactions (also complex)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients

  • Successful team worker with ability to work individually

  • Ability to work under stress in possibly volatile market conditions

  • Possess high level of professionalism and strong personal integrity

  • High level of competence in Bloomberg, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Possesses a broad base of execution skills, having successfully completed a range of transactions

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in financial markets

  • Good experience in providing investment advice and solutions

  • CFA, MBA degree or other advanced degree a plus

  • Individual has to be registered in the local register of the OCF

Education

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred

This Role is a “Controlled Function” Role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations 2014, 2015.
