The Client Onboarding Func Grp Mgr manages multiple teams of senior professionals through other senior managers. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories and practices relevant to a function as well as practical experience of multiple business cycles. In-depth knowledge of the industry and direct competitors' products/services is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/ or area of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to influence a wide range of audiences. The job is likely to be involved in both internal and external negotiations which will have a major impact on the area managed, and possibly on other related areas and organization as a whole. Develops medium- to long-term plans and executes functional strategies for a large/complex country, cluster of countries, or business requiring coordination and integration across units. Provides input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business. Full management responsibility of multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning. Has authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital or business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees a function; and, possesses expert level of knowledge, skills and abilities required to resolve most issues referred by subordinate managers and staff. Manages a large team through functional managers/senior professionals. Responsible for contributing to the enterprise by setting or influencing functional strategy.

  • Evaluates industry future directions and relates to future needs and projects constituents or stakeholders. Contributes to the enterprise through defining and implementing functional strategy.

  • Evaluates subordinates' performance and makes recommendations for pay increases, hiring, terminations and other personnel actions.

  • Maintains effective relationships with other functional areas. Internally and externally recognized subject matter expert that influences the way things are done, not only internally, but beyond the business itself. Develops strategic direction of the function to harmonize with overall business objectives.

  • Impacts the business by exercising control over sizeable resources / budget, policy formulation and planning. Applies a broad and comprehensive understanding in multiple functional areas and their underlying business principles. Understands how own function integrates within the overall organization to contribute to achieving business objectives; requires a good working knowledge of the industry.

  • Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external sources. Involved in both internal and external negotiations which will have a major impact on the area managed and possibly on other related areas and the organization as a whole.

  • Drives end results of an area and exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning.

  • Activities primarily affect a sub function.

  • Engages in short to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Manages complex and highly variable issues with substantial departmental/product impact.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

  • Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with corresponding managerial experience required

  • Exceptional track record in people leadership. Strong senior stakeholder management experience. Experience in Reference Data Management. Familiarity with external products and services that add value to client and operation reference data management. Sound knowledge of Transactional Life Cycles, Reference Data Management and Settlement process of Securities.

  • Strong academic qualifications would be desirable. Exceptional spoken and written English skills. Strong Microsoft skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Strong focus on Control and Process optimization and documentation. Proven project and process management skills. Proven people management. Proactive and able to work on own initiative. Flexibility. Good communication skills with the ability to be assertive. Organized with an excellent attention to detail. Ability to focus on high quality work while under pressure. Comfortable working with large quantities of data. Comfortable working independently in a dynamic and challenging environment. Proficient knowledge of English (written and spoken).

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree; managerial experience
