  • Background

    Citigroup Global Markets Limited ("CGML") develops a range of rules-based investment strategy Indices and offers investment solutions for both institutional and individual investors enabling exposure to investment allocation strategies through Index linked financial products. The range of strategies target cross-asset investment themes leveraging full spectrum of financial instruments and seek to respond to investors' needs for innovation, risk mitigation, transparency in systematic investments and to balance efficient implementation with solid investment rationale.

    CGML shall be considered an Administrator of Indices within the definition of a "Benchmark" as set out in Global Financial Benchmark Administration Policy and is primarily responsible for all aspects of the Benchmark Administration process, including development, determination, dissemination and governance.

    Citi Investment Strategies ("CIS") as a part of CGML’s derivatives and structured financial products businesses is responsible for development of Index ideas focused on systematic, rules-based, investable investment strategy Indices. Index Governance Committee ("IGC") is responsible for providing governance and internal oversight in all aspects of CGML’s Benchmark Administration activity.

    We offer

    Citi Benchmark Administration ("BAT") as a part of CGML’s Research & Equity Advisory division ("Citi Research"), independent from "CIS" and "Citi Research", is responsible for implementing Index ideas in the form of investable benchmarks, testing Index methodologies, benchmark determination and dissemination process which includes ongoing calculation, publication and maintenance of benchmarks. BAT is a global team with offices in London, Hong Kong, Mumbai and New York.

    This is an opportunity to join the London team in a role with primary responsibilities:

    • Develops new benchmark index models alongside structuring, quant analysts and IT
    • Works alongside IT development to further develop a multi asset calculation platform and analytics library
    • Supports the management team by owning projects and processes and being responsible for mentoring more junior team members, overseeing governance, audit and regulatory duties
    • Focuses on risk control aspect of data management and index calculation and reconciliation processes
    • Potentially manages more junior members of the team
    • Works with/support team mates and stakeholders in other regions
    • Trains more junior team members on index calculation and reconciliation processes
    • Develops new benchmark index models alongside structuring, quant analysts and IT
    • Works alongside IT development to further develop a multi asset calculation platform and analytics library
    • Improves Benchmark Index and risk control processes
    • Understands and supports governance, audit and regulatory aspects of the business
    • Works in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
    • Builds a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
    • Appropriately assesses risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation
    • Adheres to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services
    • Adheres to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated
    • Obtains and maintains all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
    • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency

  • Knowledge/Experience

    • 6-10 years relevant experience
    • Working knowledge of Python would be advantageous
    • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL (particularly Couchbase) databases preferred
    • Should have complete understanding of index calculation mechanics across asset classes
    • Thorough, organised and detailed approach to work
    • Excellent spoken and written English
    • Excellent communication
    • Self-motivated
    • Team Player
    • Supervisory experience would be beneficial
    • Knowledge of IOSCO Principles for Benchmarks and European Benchmark Regulation would be an advantage
