Role

The role of the Market Risk Controls and Processes Director will cover transformation strategy controls, business management and COO activities. This role will report directly to the Global Market Risk CAO.

Responsibilities

The role will establish target operating models and standards in the areas of governance, controls and will implement and re-engineer processes accordingly. A key goal for this role is to significantly increase operational efficiency, simplifying processes whilst ensuring stronger governance. This leadership role will have oversight of both BAU and MCA anchored controls, and be responsible for E2E process design in GMR. This role will have a matrix reporting line into the Risk CAO department.

Ensure level of appropriate controls and effective management of issues. These controls need to comply with regulatory expectations in BCBS 239, OCC Heightened Standards, Citi’s model risk framework, and overall operational risk management. This position needs to work with control experts within GMR in these areas, and make sure there are consistent standards and implementations. This role is also expected to have oversight of issues arising from regulatory exams, internal audit, and ORM SIIs.

This role will include ad hoc business support responsibilities for both the GMR CAO and the Global Head of Market Risk with strong and clear organizing principles and strategy. Responsibilities include budget and headcount planning, diversity initiatives, staffing and capacity modelling, location strategy (CSC oversight) communications, branding and marketing strategies for the department.

Qualifications & skills:

  • Detailed Price Risk expertise gained as a Market Risk Manager or product valuation specialist with First Line and/or Second Line experience or in an associated consulting role, model governance and quantitative risk exposure, with experience in writing or reviewing policies, procedures or guidelines.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; must be articulate and persuasive with the judgement and authority to provide insightful commentary to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive change to business practices by working effectively across a global organization.
  • Self-starting with the ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Project management and change capabilities are essential
  • An academic background in a technical or quantitative discipline will greatly facilitate the role’s effectiveness in interactions with First Line and Second Line technical experts and specialists.
