GSG Relationship Associate - Japan Desk - UK (Hybrid)
As part of the GSG Japan Desk, the role is to partner the Bankers on an assigned portfolio of clients, by providing consistent, high quality and enthusiastic support of relationship management activities. The portfolio consists of Corporate clients from various industries across EMEA. As a primary point of contact you will work closely with Global Transaction Services, Citi’s Investment Banking and Global Capital Markets.
Job Background/context:
Global Subsidiaries Group (GSG) sits within Global Network Banking (GNB) and is part of the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) within the Institutional Client Group, (ICG).
GNB represents a global coverage network that delivers Citi’s full spectrum of products and services at a local level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner bankers in support of new business and revenue growth
- Provide guidance and support to the SAM network and co-ordinate communications with AU and PAMs
- Support account strategies by developing an institutional understanding of the client, eg; their treasury model and philosophy, funding and cash management strategy, wallet sharing and bank group, decision making process, subsidiary support policy.
- In support of opportunities, effectively engage the Network and product partners to help position products and services to clients.
- Support the resolution of client related issues, secure effective engagement of Service, Product support and Delivery teams.
- Drive the Credit Approval process, respond to requests from the network for credit .
- Ensure Legal documentation and Support and Credit documentation is up to date and properly filed
- Support the resolution of Compliance/KYC/AML related issues
- Deputise for the banker

Knowledge/Experience:
- Good understanding of Citi’s flow products (cash management, trade, FX, loans.
- Knowledge of Citi’s credit policies and procedures
- Understanding of KYC and regulatory environment
- Positive track record of working in a demanding environment and under pressure
- 3-5 years of banking experience, preferably in relationship or account management.
Skills:
- Proficient in spoken and written Japanese and English
- Ability to manage demands from several sources,
- work to tight deadlines and multitask
- strong organizational skills, disciplined and punctual
- Ability to engage partners and leverage the network
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and similarly at all levels on the client side
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail / clarity
- Proactive working style, motivated with can-do attitude
- Team player with pro-active engagement
Qualifications:
- Fluent in Japanese and English
- Bachelor/ Master Degree
- Proven successful track record in working with external and internal clients
Competencies:
- Able to create valuable working relationships with Clients
- Able to influence good outcomes working as a partner with TTS, Operations and Service
- Able to take the initiative, cope under pressure and prioritise objectively
- Exercise sound judgment as to when to seek assistance or pursue escalation
- Articulate in both verbal and written communication
