Responsibilities
This role sits in our London Innovation Lab and has a start-up feel to it. The role requires someone with a can-do attitude and the ability to quickly navigate a Tier 1 bank and the ambiguity that comes with it. The role can be pressured at times but has high reward and we aren’t necessarily looking for someone with banking experience. Tech expertise is our main driver here. This role provides an excellent opportunity for you to work on exciting new initiatives and take significant responsibility for bringing new and existing applications to production with global impact.
The Trader Toolkit is a decision support system built in-house for our trading and sales desks, delivering streaming data and visualizations in real-time. It has three tiers - the HTML5 visualisation framework, the Node.js time series engine, and the Couchbase storage/cache tier. It is architected to be horizontally-scalable and highly-available, with zero-downtime, single-click deployments. We practise continuous delivery, with multiple production releases a week.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain the Trader Toolkit suite ensuring timely delivery of work items in the sprint.
As part of the core team, ensure sub-teams adhere to our code quality and testing standards.
Contribute to research and suggestions for new projects for the Trader Toolkit suite.
Proactively identify and implement opportunities that enable the development groups to provide the best solutions to their businesses.
Evaluate and perform POCs on new strategic technical products and applications.
Maintain close interaction with the London FX trading desk (Traders, Sales and Data Scientists) to understand requirements of both existing and new Trader Toolkit applications
Experience:
Knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript and React, NodeJS
Passionate about streaming data and building APIs and visualisations around it.
Familiar with cloud computing concepts and devops tools (Docker, Openshift).
High development standards, especially for code quality, code reviews, unit testing, continuous integration and deployment.
Delivery of great user experiences, demonstrably, working closely with clients to do it.
You have an appetite for taking on challenges and leveraging new technologies.
