Position Objectives

Summary:

The Cash & Trade Processing Intermediate Analyst is an intermediate level role. Key roles involve a combination of driving regulatory mandated initiatives on Data Quality Framework (DQF) for Cash Balance of Payment (CBOP) reporting to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and driving change management on regulatory changes on Foreign Exchange Policies (FEP). This role also requires submission of semi-annual self-assessment to BNM and annual review on FEP and any reporting developments from Citi.  It’s a critical role to expand and strengthen regulatory governance in Operations space and drive automation.

Job Descriptions & Principal Responsibilities

  • Responsible to monitor and perform necessary actions on all transactions routed to Transaction Service Centre (TSC) for FEP checking.

  • To perform check that all approvals are in place and ensure that all transactions comply with BNM FEP regulations.

  • Requires day-to-day communications with various stakeholders including CTSM, franchise Relationship Managers (RM’s) as well as clients. Required good observations and to highlight or escalate for any breach and inform RM’s accordingly for any issue with clients’ payments.

  • Monitor daily work at TSC such as original and fax payment instruction received, routing all payment instructions to CSC before respective product cut-off time, ensure all end of day reconciliation are in place and call back with branches.

  • Supervise TSC staffs to ensure follow up with clients for incomplete details of FEP emails and active participation in any system UAT testing particularly FTI as well as COB drill.

  • Attend to issues incurred by CTSM, arrange discussions for any new products rollout and key regulatory changes, and provide guidance to them for preventive action and solutions

  • Highlight and escalate any issues and enquiry by clients to Sales / Product & IM on CTSM Incoming & Outgoing TT related matters.

  • Perform semi-annual self-assessment submission to BNM for FEP matters as well as monthly JFA for BOP reporting.

  • Focus and driving data quality analysis, including identifying potential changes in clients’ payment behaviors and attending to all BNM queries via emails and system to drive down the franchise JFA numbers to a minimal level. Daily follow up with clients for clarification on purpose code or purpose of payments to ensure accurate reporting to BNM within stipulated timeline.

  • Address any key manual touchpoints on operational works by the staff and ability to drive simplification and automated solutions for STP process as well as MIFT reduction strategy.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in Operations, preferably in payments and regulatory reporting background

  • Advanced MS Excel including VBA knowledge is a key advantage

  • Proficiency with any data analysis software such as Power BI, Tableau or Python is a plus

  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of numbers are required

  • Familiarity with FEP or BOP regulatory reporting is an advantage

  • Knowledge of transactional payment processing, ability to understand and read SWIFT message effectively are preferred

  • Superior problem-solving skills, attention to detail and desire to probe further into data analysis

  • Ability to communicate complex procedures to other colleagues is highly desirable

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, strong organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to work long working hours to deliver significant results with minimum supervision

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Previous relevant working experience preferred

  • Experience in Financial, statistics and/or technical background

  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication

  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and good organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision as well as in a team environment
