Job Description Summary

This role is to deliver analytically and financially driven data analysis to identify opportunities, make recommendations, address business needs, solve business problems and drive grow across Cards and Retail business. This role is also responsible to identify and lead key country joint-initiatives to enhance the business opportunities. The person is required to develop and employ the tools of segmentation, targeting, risk versus rewards dimension and advanced statistical methodologies (ie. Big Data, Machine Learning) to find data based insights to deliver upon the opportunities and the financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage analytics, targeting, and segmentation on the Cards and Retail business.
  • Lead and drive strategy and make recommendations through the use of data analysis and segmentation methodologies leading to the implementation of recommendations and tracking executions.
  • Strong understanding of the key Consumer Banking profitability drivers and measures of success.
  • Perform and deliver ad-hoc analytical requests thru data analysis and provide insights to address business needs and problems.
  • Deep understanding of customers by analysing customer and portfolio data and consistently communicate key findings to stakeholders
  • Examine the effectiveness of strategies / campaigns by analysing post campaigns performances, response rate and sales incremental, marketing expenses and revenue generated (R/E), to gather insights, formulate strategies and make recommendations for future campaigns.
  • Lead development of statistical models for customer targeting, product response model and channel optimization
  • Identify opportunities to drive incremental usage, universe expansion and grow digital base.
  • Work closely with regional team and business to implement and drive regional initiatives.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Minimum 7 years working experience preferably in analytical roles, spanning business strategy, risk management, marketing analytics or finance
  • Strong technical and programming experience in SAS or SQL, modeling, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint skills
  • Strong understanding of business drivers and how it can be impacted by customer & market behaviours
  • Proficient in data and capable of completing in-depth analysis (deep-dive) to unearth actionable insights and make recommendations
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously and willingness to lead / work as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently around tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive self-starter with strong analytical, problem solving and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders in the assessment of business opportunities through data driven strategies
  • Demonstrated creativity, innovation and thought leadership


  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, mathematics, economics, statistics, computer science or information systems is preferred

Citi has reached an agreement with UOB Group for the acquisition of our Consumer Banking business in Malaysia. The completion of the acquisition is subject to local regulatory approvals.

As this is a role to work in Citi’s consumer bank, the successful candidate will initially be employed by Citi and in due course, UOB will be extending an employment offer to the incumbent of this role to continue employment with UOB upon completion of the acquisition.
