Responsibilities
The Sr. Technology Director - Trade Working Capital Finance is a hands-on senior technical & management level position to develop and implement a strategic technical roadmap that will allow this industry leading Global Trade group to continue to evolve and provide superior capabilities and user experience to the clients of the bank. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s).
Responsibilities:
Take the lead on the design, implementation, and successful delivery of large-scale or significantly difficult software solutions that have a long-term impact on a product, technology or architecture.
Design approaches and the code you personally contribute is noteworthy in some way (e.g., a significant refactor that simplifies or improves architectural quality, enables us to maintain a competitive advantage, offers significant extensibility, performance, scalability, or has organization-wide operational excellence impact). Identify and tackle intrinsically hard problems. (e.g., highly complex, ambiguous, undefined, with less existing structure, or having significant business or security risk or potential for significant impact).
Deliver artifacts that set the standard within your organization for engineering excellence, from designs to algorithms to implementations. Your personal code submissions and reviews of other people’s code are instructive and make the overall code corpus better.
Lead and actively participate in design reviews, aligning teams across your organization towards coherent architectural strategies. You bring clarity to complexity, probe assumptions, illuminate pitfalls, and foster shared understanding.
You are a pragmatic problem solver, applying judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests. You are flexible, adapting your approach to meet the needs of the team, project, and product.
Actively recruit as well as participate in the hiring/interview process.
Play a significant role in the career development of others, actively mentoring and educating the larger SDE community on trends, technologies, and best practices.
Keep abreast of industry trends. You effectively research and benchmark our technology against other competing software in the industry. You understand that many problems are not essentially new.
Contribute to intellectual property (e.g., invent, submit patents, etc.)
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
15+ years of relevant experience in a product line management, e-commerce, and/or strategic planning role.
Significant experience building complex business and/or transactional models.
Has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products / services in a high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly.
Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
Deep expertise as a hands-on technical leader working on complex systems in a large organization, structuring, establishing, and leading multiple product-centric engineering teams.
Hands-on Architecture, Technology Design Technology Director experience.
Applications and Cloud Architecture highly involved in Microservices, AWS, Cloud technology.
Expertise in Microservices, Domain Driven design, BDD, TDD, Cloud platforms and associated Developer Toolchains, DevOps models, and best practice
Ensure projects are moving in the right direction, implement strategy, execution of project initiatives without impacting the business and existing applications.
Very knowledgeable of systems and applications (ERPs) Integrations and Migration.
MUST be Technically, Savvy technologist.
MUST have experience in fast past, changing environments.
MUST have experience with Global Systems, Products, and Projects with a combination of people management in a Global setting.
Ideally, a technical director that brings value and accountability.
Knowledge of ERP systems and automated data extraction from ERP systems.
Good understanding and working experience in API documentation, API eco system & API driven services, security solution & pattern, PII data handling and API gateway
Significant delivery skills within Open Source software, either as a high profile contributor or project lead
Experience in delivering high quality technology products / services in a high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly
Experience driving software delivery transformation through SAFe Agile practice and process, with a focus of establishing Continuous Delivery culture and process
Expertise in performance tuning of large technical solutions with significant volumes
First-class leadership and influencing skills, including experience managing a multiple stakeholder goals
Experience managing global technology teams
Working knowledge of industry practices and standards
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Trade Finance / Supply Chain Finance / Trade Services domain knowledge a huge plus
First-class leadership and influencing skills, including experience managing a Software Engineering Team
Demonstrated interpersonal and talent management skills, including the ability to identify and develop product management talent.

Bachelor’s/University Degree
Master’s Degree (Preferred)
