Citi is currently seeking a Director of External Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), supporting the Global Head of Third-Party Risk Management within the Institutional Clients Group (ICG) organization. In this role, the candidate will have end-to-end responsibility and accountability to design, implement, drive and oversee effective execution of External Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) policies, standards, and related controls and processes within the ICG Business, ensuring they are compliant with relevant regulation.

The Director of External Third-Party Risk Management has an important role in assessing, managing and mitigating risks associated with ICG’s external third parties. The candidate must have strong Third-Party Risk Management experience and have knowledge of regulatory requirements, including Operational resilience, industry frameworks, and leading practices for Third Party Risk Management and Controls. The candidate must have strong team leadership, communication skills and demonstrate a record of accomplishment and excellence in delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the effective design of ICG’s strategic direction for Third-Party Risk Management framework and processes.  This includes design, implementation, and effective execution of applicable policies, procedures, technology and tools, operating model, training, control and governance processes to create sustainable solutions.
  • Drive the root cause analysis of Third-Party Risk issues, events and near misses, and ensure enhancements are implemented to address root causes within ICG
  • Ensuring any risks or issues identified are documented, logged and reported to management and have clear robust action plan and timelines to close/mitigate
  • Support engagement across ICG Businesses, and the second line to understand how these risks manifest themselves with Third Parties and ensure that these are appropriately addressed through Third-Party Risk Management Processes
  • Evolve design of Third Party Metrics to assess ICG compliance with implemented frameworks, regulation and risk appetite
  • Assess regulatory changes impacting areas of Third-Party Risk and Control assessment to determine and implement any actions required
  • Monitor industry leading practices for Third-Party risk management to identify enhancements to Citi’s broader TPRM Program
  • Prepare updates for Citi stakeholders and regulators describing the ICG TPRM Program’s approach to risk management and support the ICG Head of Risk and Control with these communications
  • Independently assess risks and drive actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices.

  • Provide transparency into the effectiveness of key TPRM deliverables for senior management, through regular monthly reporting and ensuring the accuracy of the reporting

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years relevant experience
  • Significant experience in Operational Risk is a must. Other risk and control disciplines would be a plus – credit, and market.
  • Experience in Internal Audit or Financial Control would be desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of operational control framework
  • Experience managing vendors/3rd parties.
  • Excellent relationship building skills, with experience in partnering at all levels of the organization.  Must be able to effectively address and resolve disagreements and conflict without impacting relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills to create and present summary materials to executive leaders and regulators.
  • Ability to lead through influence at all layers of the organization.
  • Strong people management skills
  • Excellent judgment, decision making and organization skills
  • Expertise in the following would be beneficial:  Fraud Awareness and Risk Management  Operations and Systems (Information Security Standards, Vendor/Outsourcing Management and MCA  Legal and Regulatory Compliance Management of a global operations and a complex environment that includes global teams.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal & written

   Education: 

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred

Jersey City Salary Range: $175,000.00 - $300,000.00 USD Annual
