The Regulatory Risk Officer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

The role applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and workflows for various programs such CCAR and CECL standards within the Citi Wholesale Credit. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within the CCAR and Risk Identification Framework. Requires in-depth understanding of how various stakeholders collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Requires good analytical and documentation skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple stakeholders. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of a sustainable process (quarterly) for Risk ID quantification leveraging Stress losses within the Portfolio Management Group.
  • Support the execution of project plans for both the Annual (CCAR/DFAST) Submission and Quarterly Stress Testing. Work with the various project leads and other stakeholders to drive the various sub initiatives/ project activities under these frameworks.
  • Support the cross-framework Managers Controls Assessment process end to end with stakeholders through active review, monitoring and review and challenge of controls
  • Participate and engage with stakeholders on the management of process flows and narratives within the workstream.
  • Actively engage with Issue Remediation process that will be used to proactively manage the timely remediation and closure of workstream remediation plans.
  • Participate in Workstream portfolio deep dives, supporting the workstream for various enhancement initiatives taken to enhance model frameworks in response to Regulatory or Self- Identified feedback.
  • Performs analytics and root cause analyses to respond to regulatory and business questions and provide portfolio insights.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Subject matter knowledge of Wholesale credit and the general principles of credit risk management should be a part of the individual’s area of expertise. This includes an understanding of the Wholesale credit portfolios and businesses, manage and monitor risk. 
  • Partners with Clients to understand and quickly respond to Client needs. Proactively seeks Client feedback to influence change throughout organization.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in Risk Identification background preferred with knowledge of wholesale credit risk.
  • 3+ years project experience in risk and ability to partner with Business & Technology stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of project goals.
  • Should have Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office – particularly Excel (metrics and data analysis), PowerPoint (presentation decks), and Word (writing and editing procedural documentation).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and communicate root causes and trends.
  • Ability to synthesize key messages from complex topics within Credit and Risk Identification.
  • Knowledge of banking domain especially risk management and basic understanding of various credit policies.
  • Demonstrate financial and risk reporting knowledge as well as experience from the business and/or technical area desired.
  • Project management knowledge and experience working with diverse group of stakeholders to achieve milestones and deadlines and capability to handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Proven relationship management skills with ability to deepen relationships and build partnerships across the business, executive leadership and key functional support areas
  • Good knowledge of risk processes and controls with good understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in compiling process and data quality metrics, analyzing results to clearly communicate data-driven analysis to senior management.

Education:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree, Master Degree preferred.
