Responsibilities
Unique opportunity to advise on and challenge a global, front-to-back transformation of wholesale lending, with a focus on the Loan Operations function within the Institutional Clients Group (ICG). Support the Global Operational Risk Lead for Wholesale Lending in providing independent operational risk challenge and oversight of of ICG Loan Operations. Wholesale Lending, including Loan Operations, is undergoing significant transformation as part of the Lending Transformation Program (LTP) and Wholesale Credit Remediation (WCR) Program. The role will act as an independent ORM challenger over the 1st Line of Defense's implementation of and adherence to Citi's operational risk framework. Key responsibilities of the role include independent challenge of both BAU risk management activities (identification, assessment, and management of operational risks arising from existing business activities, new products/ new lines of business, and third party relationships) and key redesign/ transformation initiatives executed as part of LTP. This is a unique opportunity to partner with the 1st line of defense as an advisor on effective design of operational processes and controls, strengthening the control environment while also driving efficiency and improved service levels. Prior experience in process re-engineering/ business transformation is strongly preferred. Strong analytical, communication, and risk assessment skills are required. Prior experience in 2nd line independent risk management, operational or enterprise risk management is preferred. Developed communication and diplomacy skills, and the ability to present effectively to senior management, are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in the business, internal audit, and occasionally external regulators.
Responsibilities:
- Independently assess risks and drive actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices.
- Governance and oversight may include (not limited to) processing risk, conduct risk, technology and cyber risk, fraud risk, physical damage risk, etc.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for all operational risk & control performance issues that surface.
- Develops and maintains relationships across the business users and Lines of Defense to better understand and deliver ORM requirements by responding to changes in the internal and external business environment
- Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years relevant experience
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills through all levels of the organization and with internal and external partners.
- Exceptional relationship management skills; must be able to address and resolve conflict while maintaining relationships.
- Knowledge of Wholesale Loan products and Wholesale Credit Risk is preferred
- Experience in process reengineering/ lean process design and control design/ assessment/ testing is preferred
- Detailed oriented with analytical skills. Expert in Microsoft Office Tools.
