Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) is managed by Cheryl Boucher, Chief Risk Officer (CRO), who reports directly to Citi's CRO, Zdenek Turek. Wholesale Credit Risk specifically manages the portfolio of institutional clients (ICG) and products activity generated by Capital Markets Origination, Corporate and Investment Banking, Markets and Securities Services, Private Banking, Commercial Banking and Treasury and Trade Solutions. In addition, WCR manages the portfolio of Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) as well as Global Wealth Management (GWM).

This new role is part of the Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) organization. Within WCR, the Independent Risk Quality Assurance - Wholesale Credit Risk (IRQA-WCR) function verifies that established standards and processes are followed and consistently applied. WCR Management uses the results of the quality assurance reviews to assess the quality of the group’s policies, procedures, programs, and practices as relates to wholesale lending. The results help management identify operational weaknesses, risks associated with the function, training needs, and process deficiencies.

The Global Head of IRQA-WCR reports results of Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs) to management of the respective in-scope portfolios, Independent Risk, and critical partner stakeholders and regulators. The Global Head is, inter alia, supported by the IRQA-WCR Reporting Senior Analyst, who is responsible for provision, co-ordination and oversight of governance reporting to Committees/Stakeholders globally for the IRQA-WCR Program, to support consistent delivery of high quality, concise and insight-led and actionable reporting.

The current role of IRQA-WCR Data Management Lead Analyst supports the Reporting Senior Analyst in seamless Reporting by making available robust, reliable data from Citi’s golden source systems as well the key systems related to the WCR credit approval and reporting process. The role reports directly to the IRQA-WCR Senior Reporting Analyst and provides a sound basis for execution of the IRQA Program by making available key data elements needed for population assessment, sampling and reporting activities of the Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the IRQA Data management efforts to support execution of the IRQA Program, including data extraction, population completeness assessment to support effective sampling, consolidation of QA testing results and reporting.

  • Support the IRQA-WCR Reporting Lead in producing reports, identifying and escalating issues, by the accurate, precise, and consistent tracking of key performance indicators, across sites, portfolios, and teams.

  • Provide a review and quality check control on all reporting which is produced by ensuring both the quantitative and qualitative content is accurate and provides clear messages and analysis on key items for attention and value-add insight.

  • Supporting the Reporting Lead in ad-hoc management and regulatory reporting to senior management including the Wholesale Credit Issues Management Forum: overseeing preparation and ensuring a succinct summary of key themes/items for attention is provided supported by accurate and insightful analysis and providing a review and quality checker role, to ensure consistency in IRQA-WCR messaging across all Committees including liaising with the senior managers to confirm content.

  • Embedding efficient processes for collating information for reporting, including maintaining centralized trackers and driving global reporting initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement through the consideration/adoption of innovative solutions to drive process efficiency and improvement of report content/format and production processes.

  • Ensuring that all data maintenance, reporting, tracking, effective escalation, and communication are executed as per the design and strategy within required deadlines.

  • Supporting Reporting Lead Analyst in the development and implementation of Reporting Procedures and controls to drive effective QA reporting and governance standards, and enhancing guidance and tools that form the basis for rigorous, comprehensive and timely data management processes including establishing performance metrics, to contribute to the buildout of a best-in-class QA function.

  • Develop effective working relationships, to enable smooth co-ordination of data management and QAR reporting activities, as well as building a knowledge of IRQA-WCR to drive insightful reporting.

  • Work with IRQA-WCR Function Heads to provide reliable population for the QAR cycle within each of the functions/reporting units

  • Promote knowledge sharing and innovation; promulgate best practices across the IRQA-WCR function including leveraging new tools to drive efficiency in data usage

  • Efforts also include ongoing and periodic assessment of IRQA-WCR processes and practices with the aim of continuous and timely improvement of technology, processes, and procedures relating to data management and reporting, including

  • Analyses of established performance metrics and trend analyses

  • Incorporating feedback from IRQA-WCR staff and key business stakeholders, to improve the data management processes

  • Drive staff professional development and training needs

  • Drive technology solutions to support QAR activities, where relevant.

  • Act as a change agent, coaching staff in areas with noted deficiencies and sharing any observed best practices. Ensure ongoing and timely feedback and coaching of IRQA staff to sustain a strong control culture and an unwavering commitment to excellence in execution

  • Support the Global Head of IRQA-WCR on internal projects and initiatives

  • Support IRQA-WCR Voice of the Employee (VOE) as well as diversity and inclusion initiatives

  • Travel (less than 10%)

Qualifications/Experience/Skills/Competencies:

  • Demonstrable quantitative and data gathering experience including, 7+ years of reporting functions, issue identification and report, and/or quality assurance and quality control; preferable to have banking, credit risk management, internal audit, loan review or quality assurance review function at an investment or large commercial bank

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and monitor key metrics and data trends, to be able to leverage those to drive informed decisions and change

  • Seasoned Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills, and data management and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

  • Exceptional knowledge and experience of designing and implementing robust housing infrastructure and database maintenance, creating reporting templates for observed findings and trend analysis, and continuous improvement, working closely and independently with the Global Head of IRQA-WCR, Function Heads and Reporting Lead as necessary

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority

  • Appreciation of Wholesale Credit Processes, and organizational awareness of covered portfolios, and processes; including awareness and adherence to the control environment including Quality Assurance and Quality Control.

  • Good understanding of risk management and control frameworks, policies and procedures gained through proven progressive experience in leading international financial organizations

  • Demonstrable grasp of issues identification, documentation and remediation within the Quality Assurance process, the determination of materiality, and partnering with colleagues for ongoing improvement, problem detection, and sustainable remediation

  • Proven culture carrier

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert influence with and without direct authority

  • Solid organizational skills with ability to manage time and prioritise effectively with little to no supervision

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
