Responsibilities

As a part of Citi’s effort to reduce risk, improve efficiencies and minimize complexity of operations, the Controllers Data Team is responsible for the timely and adequate implementation of the Citi Data Management Policy (CDGP) for the Controllers Group and work with the Finance CDO to support the implementation of enhancements to Citi’s Data Operating Model (DOM) in relation to data consumed or produced by the Controllers organization. 

The team is responsible for understanding the concerns of the stakeholders within the Controllers organization relative to data quality and availability to assess required solutions to address those issues ensuring to coordinate closely with both internal and external stakeholders.  They are engaged in efforts to remediate the issues through engagement with resolution teams, bridging the gap between the technology teams and the business teams.  The focus will be to satisfy the data needs of the Controllers organization with data that is high quality and fit for purpose. 

The Data Governance Lead Role for the Controllers Data Team will be working very closely with the FCDO, ECDO and the LOBs to ensure the implementation of CDGP is accomplished in alignment with the DOM.

The candidate:

  • Will apply in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical and data contributions.
  • Assist in leading data capability efforts to provide accurate information of the highest quality to customers, grounded in developing and instituting the most efficient production processes.
  • Works to ensure that functions are compliant with Citigroup Data Management Policy in relation to the data capability under assignment (i.e., Data Lineage, DQ Scorecards, Data Ownership, Data Stewardship etc.).
  • have excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level.
  • Works with cross regional / and functional controllers working groups to implement strategic data capabilities.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years' of experience in Finance organizations related to data management, data governance, data lineage, metadata, and management of CDEs etc.
  • Subject matter expert in more than one related data area; knowledge of data governance capabilities and platforms (e.g., Collibra, OFM, Solidatus, etc.)
  • Experience in data governance programs with knowledge of data governance principles and practices is a plus
  • Practical experience of data management, data remediation, front to back system data flows, data handling, transmission, aggregation and/or data modelling
  • Experience with controller functions, financial books & records, and/or regulatory reporting is a plus
  • Advanced understanding of data and relevant industry trends and infrastructure platforms
  • Client focused, able to operate as partner to senior business stakeholders


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
