Consumer Industry Head is responsible for growth strategy in the Mid-Corporate segment for Commercial Bank India with a focus on increasing market share and working with partners across Citi to develop innovative industry solutions for our consumer clients. The Consumer Industry Head will be responsible for the industry financials and management of our risk appetite and controls inherent in the portfolio and to ensure a strong returns discipline and lead the growth. A core part of the role will also be to develop talent and ensure bankers have the tools and knowledge to deliver the power of Citi for clients.

Consumer Industry Head will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of the consumer industry including emerging business trends, opportunities and competitive positioning. The role requires relationship building expertise across the MC segment which is going from $100 Million to $3 Bn. Industry Head will need an ability to articulate, bring alignment, communicate and execute on a clear industry strategy and plan for market leadership and growth in the Mid-Corporates in India.

This role reports to the Head of Mid-Corporates in India.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategy:

  • Size growth opportunities in Consumer Industry and develop a strategy to capture it.
  • Identify emerging trends including disruptors / new sub-segments
  • Optimize resource allocation aligned with global strategy
  • Be visible as a Industry Head in the market and internally

Business Development & Sales Management:

  • Drive innovation including development and commercialization of industry specific solutions in partnership with products / regions / countries and leveraging digital tools and platforms.
  • Drive industry thought leadership externally and internally and drive presence in industry.
  • Coordinate industry webinars / client events / external marketing.
  • Partner with products to establish clear guidelines and process for appropriate coverage for CCB names / prospects.
  • Establish and lead robust sales management processes for pipeline management, new client acquisition, client penetration and share of wallet.
  • Be responsible for Industry Financials including returns (RoRC / RoTCE).


Risk Management:

  • Lead Industry portfolio reviews, understand emerging industry trends and impact to CCB portfolio, work with CLM and Risk to develop risk mitigation strategies. Work through any stress names.

Talent:

  • Build industry expertise and skills within the coverage team in India and ensure deep understanding of relevant products and solutions.
  • Ensure best practices sharing and opportunities.
  • Train, coach and attract and retain talent to the industry group

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of commercial/corporate banking experience
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of commercial banking products including cash management, trade, markets, derivatives, syndicated and bilateral loans, capital markets issuances, etc.
  • Possesses sound judgment and is creative in providing structured solutions to bank clients
  • Significant experience with credit decision making authority, with experience in complex capital structures and cross border transactions
  • Multi-year experience pitching and executing capital markets solutions, including joint calling with investment bankers as well as independently is desired.
  • Minimum intermediate level credit skills with the capability to demonstrate advanced level credit skills to be appointed a senior credit officer
  • Ability to work effectively in team setting
  • Able to effectively interact with a variety of internal and external constituencies
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams through complex change; a reputation for retaining, attracting and developing talent   
  • Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Must have a sharp business development focus and demonstrate innovative approaches
  • Able to quickly adapt priorities based on the latest data insights

Education:

Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
