The Finance Division acts as a strategic partner across business lines.  Professionals within the division work closely with the management teams of Citigroup's many departments, adding value to the firm's operations through strategic analysis and hands-on participation in planning and in process redesign. The Finance Division is comprised of Treasury, Tax, Controllers, Audit and Planning and Analysis.

Valuation Control Group is a global control function within Citi Finance and is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of a trading desk or business product and is responsible for controlling, analyzing and reporting on valuations of positions which require fair value measurement.

Job Purpose:

Role within the Valuation Control Group to lead Buffalo Reporting and Analytics team responsible for development, creation and analysis of reports used by senior management, regulatory/corporate reporting and IA / regulators. The role involves collaborative work in a team environment and liaison with global controllers, senior management and cross functional departments across multiple locations.

Seeking individual with:

People Management and Leadership

Manage 5 employees responsible for various reporting deliverables

Strong leadership characteristics that enable the individual to maintain a clear structure of accountability across all aspects of valuation

  • Proven people management skills. The role will require leadership of a Leading and guiding the team of 5 people in developing reporting enhancements, new metrics and techniques in identifying valuation issues:
    • Assist in setting team’s agenda, direction, goals and objectives that align to Global VCG Reporting and Analytics
    • Developing reporting enhancements, new metrics and governance techniques in identifying issues
    • Experienced manager of managers, developing skills within a team and build relationships across multiple office locations
  • Strong leadership characteristics that enable the individual to maintain a clear structure of accountability across all aspects of valuation
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, ability to communicate complex issues to senior management
  • Project management knowledge and experience working with diverse group of stakeholders to achieve milestones and deadlines
  • Proven relationship management skills with ability to deepen relationships and build partnerships across the business, executive leadership and key functional support areas

Reporting and Analytics

  • Support Global VCG reporting and analysis of 10Q/10K Fair Value Measurement footnotes and Legal Entity regulatory requirements and attestations. This is a high profile regulatory reporting process, which requires significant amount of communication and network building across various Finance teams and presentation to senior management.
  • Oversee production of monthly business, regional, and global reporting’s suites which including fair value levels, price verification results, market valuation adjustments (incl. XVA), prudent valuation and valuation uncertainty for distribution to stakeholders/ senior management and VCG asset class leads
  • Strong analytical skills with aptitude to distill large and complex datasets, distill into executive succinct manner and formulate solutions/insightful analysis

Control Framework

  • Analyze current processes and lead strategic infrastructure enhancements to ensure compliance with VCG Valuation  governance framework and regulatory/financial disclosure requirements for best in class processes and standards.
  • Accountability for the relevant NAM and LATAM Reporting controls within MCA (Manager Control Assessment) framework
  • Accountability for Responsibility for reviewing and engagingAccountability and engagement on governance and reporting of all valuation matters relating to the relevant PCG/VCG and businesses and communicating control initiatives globally

Reporting and Analytics

  • Oversee production of monthly business, regional, and global reporting’s suites which including fair value levels, price verification results, market valuation adjustments (incl. XVA), prudent valuation and valuation uncertainty for distribution to stakeholders/ senior management and VCG asset class leads

Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience in business analysis and financial reporting
  • Two or more years of management experience
  • Knowledge of Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives Instruments; and/or knowledge in accounting and financial calculations
  • Financial control and/or product control experience is a plus
  • Strong data management and analysis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting or Finance degree preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage a team as well as multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a rapidly changing environment
  • Motivated, organized and team orientation
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
