Operational Risk Officer

The Operational Risk Officer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

Responsibilities:

• Establishes and oversees the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.

• Oversee the management of Operational Risk Data within various risk systems by reviewing data to ensure it is in compliance with ORM Policy and Standards.  Work with various businesses to resolve any issues identified.

• Support the monthly attestation/snapshot process on Internal Operational Risk Event data by working with segments/regions to ensure all required Events are reported completely, accurately, and in a timely manner.

• Oversee the management of Key Operational Risk and Key Indicator (KOR/KI) data quality by monitoring the data quality metrics of active Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and KORs across all of Citi’s segments.  Additionally, collect supporting documentation to ensure businesses are adhering to the data retention policy.

• Oversee the management of Scenario Analysis data quality reviews and metrics.

• Provide guidance to users in cases where Policy interpretation is required to ensure consistency across Citi in data capture and adherence to regulatory definitions.

• Identify patterns in the data that may point to Data Quality issues and alert Operational Risk Managers.

• Create and distribute various reports to help the Business manage their Data Quality efforts.

• Update Data Quality Training materials and conduct ad-hoc trainings to new users.

• Recommend changes to the CitiRisk Loss Capture System and Industry Event System for improved efficiency and assist in various UATs.

• For audits and regulatory reviews, assist in preparing deliverables related to data quality.

• Actively participate in ad hoc Data Quality Projects to support each pillar of Operational Risk.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in financial services.

• Experience in working with large databases and quantitative analysis. Experience with statistical software packages is a plus. Excellent general computer skills.

• Experience in Risk Management, Finance, and/or Operations and Technology is a plus.

• Substantial, broad knowledge of the major financial products and services in either Consumer or Institutional lines of business is required.

• Excellent oral and written communications skills; Must be articulate and persuasive.

• Self-starter with a high level of demonstrated initiatives.

• Demonstrated ability to excel within a complex matrix organization.

• Must demonstrate ability to successfully engage in multiple projects.

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
