The Finance Acctg Group Manager is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.

  • Supports the management and control data flows to and within Finance applications to ensure integrity and completeness of data, including by preparing and recording financial transactions for legal vehicle and regulatory reporting purposes, updating the general ledger, recording financial transactions, and preparing of consolidated financial statements, in accordance with management reporting requirements, for legal vehicle & regulatory purposes. Also, includes specialized accounting, such as equity compensation, securitization, payroll and investment accounting.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards. Ensure new products and business transactions are operational accurate and accounting is correct.  
  • Team leader for the CTI Securities Control Business in Buffalo. Responsible for supporting the Group Manager with the record-to-report process for Corporate Treasury's over $300 billion investment portfolio.  The main functions that this person will cover are reviewing P&L reporting, E-recon responsibilities, price/valuation verification and impairment analysis, regulatory reporting. The role also calls for managing frequent ad hoc analysis of activity.
  • Review accounting and reporting for a broad range of fixed-income securities, repos and foreign currency denominated securities.
  • E-recon process
  • Analyze trade information to ensure proper reporting of portfolio P&L and balance sheet
  • Accurately review and categorize product information for purposes of regulatory reporting
  • Independent price verification
  • Impairment analysis activities
  • Review daily profit attribution analysis (PAA) as required for Volcker regulatory rule compliance –
  • Review Accounting and reporting for a broad range of securities, repo and foreign-denominated securities
  • Review accounting bookings and ensure suitability.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors, as well as regulatory teams
  • Interact with all CTI Business leads (NAM, EMEA LATAM, APAC)
  • Ad hoc data and analytics requests from the Treasury business and Citi senior management.
  • Models behavior that demonstrates integrity, prioritizes strong risk management values, and advocates decisions that foster a strong compliance risk management framework and accountability for decisions and actions.
  • Contribute to a 'no surprises' compliance culture by managing control issues with transparency and candor. Escalate in a timely fashion, communicate clearly, engage others and resolve issues or follow them through to resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Solid accounting knowledge and related work experience.
  • Knowledge of fixed-income securities, including U.S. Government bonds and mortgage-backed securities.
  • Extensive experience in Product Control, product processors (GTPL a plus) and Valuation
  • Experience managing or supervising small teams
  • Attention to detail and willingness to "roll-up sleeves," while maintaining a grasp of the "big picture."
  • Advanced desktop skills, including MS-Office, and high aptitude for learning new systems. 
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with a wide range of people across different functions and levels of seniority. Analytical skills are a must. Ability to manage and lead a team. Be able to work independently.                                                                                                                                                      Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skill.                                                        
  • Self-starter who proactively seeks to improve existing controls and streamline processes both from a tactical short term viewpoint, and also from a strategic long term perspective.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to draw up action plans.
  • Excellent desktop skills, including, MS-Office (especially Excel), and high aptitude for learning new systems. 
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg or other market data services
  • References requested.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
