Job Purpose:

Citi is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our Valuation Control Group (VCG) in Houston, TX. This is a hybrid position with the employee reporting into the Houston office 3 days per week

The Valuation Control team is a key function within the Controllers organization, providing important independent oversight regarding valuations across various asset classes, including Rates, Equities, Non Markets, Commodities, Global Spread Products and Reporting.

This role is responsible for all aspects of valuation control, including calculation of price verification results, determination of valuation adjustments, validation of model inputs, interpretation of results, and reporting to key stakeholders. The successful candidate will be able to interact effectively with senior management, traders and quantitative specialists, auditors and regulators.

Key Responsibilities:

People Management and Leadership

  • Strong team leadership characteristics, maintaining a clear structure of accountability
  • Managing a team of analysts; including staffing, onboarding, performance assessment, career feedback and providing development opportunities. 
  • Ability to influence regional and global asset class leads
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to communicate initiatives across the global VCG team
  • Excellent project management skills, driving change and managing projects effectively
  • Key player in setting the team’s direction, goals and objectives
  • Leading and guiding the team in identifying valuation issues
  • Constructively challenge Front Office valuations while building and maintaining these relationships

Knowledge/Experience

  • Financial markets experience and products knowledge, including technical understanding of securities and derivatives are a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel functions
  • Ability to develop an understanding of complex valuation concepts and effectively challenge peers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Accounting or other business-related field of study
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Finance or related quantitative field
