The Legal Entity Management Team

Citigroup is comprised of thousands of legal entities around the world through which Citi operates its numerous businesses.  The Legal Entity Management Team oversees the process for the collection and maintenance of information necessary to support Citi’s legal entity regulatory and financial reporting, as well as supporting regulatory responsibilities related to the governance and organizational structure of the legal entities. The team focuses on the lifecycle of Citi’s legal entities, including majority and wholly-owned subsidiaries, minority investments, and special purpose entities (SPEs).

The team’s general objectives include enhancing governance, processes, controls, referential data, and enabling systems related to the lifecycle of each legal entity.

Job Functions / Position Responsibilities
This Buffalo, New York-based role supports legal entity management and governance processes including legal entity monitoring and rationalization, legal entity data analytics, process oversight, entity management, and regulatory reporting. This position is responsible for the oversight and governance of the FR Y-10 process, which monitors and reports on legal entity data attribute changes, and After-the-Fact filings, which oversees the process to report specific capital transactions to the FRB, both of which require working with multiple stakeholders across the firm.  In addition, the position will be involved in legal entity data monitoring, deep-dive analysis, ad hoc data requests, enforcement of policies and standards, keeping management up-to-date, and development and execution of new processes and controls.  This position also supports the central legal entity management data system, interfacing with Citi’s technology teams to establish and execute business requirements for system enhancements, and advising users on system functionality and data usage.

The Finance Organization

The Legal Entity Management Team is part of Citi's Controller organization within Finance. The Finance organizations responsible for the integrity and control of Citi's financial books and records as well as the process by which reports are generated. This includes corporate/regulatory reporting, management reporting, legal entity management and capitalization, balance sheet integrity and ensuring that franchise needs remain in focus. The Controller's group also focuses on strengthening the independent controls and the control environment throughout the company to support the businesses in their efforts to grow responsibly. The group is divided into several global units of specialization that include both accounting and analytical roles. These units include: Legal Entity Management, Corporate/Regulatory Reporting, Accounting Policy, Finance Business Architecture, Internal Controls (MCA, Sarbanes Oxley, FDICIA, Audit monitoring), Corporate Insurance and Risk Management, and Finance Initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree is required, preferably in finance or accounting
  • Knowledge of Corporate Governance and Legal Entity Management processes and systems
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of internal control processes
  • Able to communicate effectively and efficiently in both written and oral form
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functional areas
  • Good knowledge of information technology, data, and processes, including familiarity with project development and implementation
  • Excellent interpersonal, project management and communication skills
  • Willingness to “take ownership over their responsibilities”
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to think about and understand the “big picture”
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word knowledge

We are currently working on a hybrid schedule consisting of 2-3 days in office and the remainder remote (specific details depend on location and business group). This is not a "remote only" role.
