Citi Investment Management (CIM) is a group within Citi Wealth that manages assets on a discretionary and advisory basis for high and ultra-high net worth clients.  With approximately $85 billion in assets under management and advisement globally, CIM manages a broad suite of investment strategies within single and multi-asset class products.   CIM is currently seeking a Junior Portfolio Manager to join our team of investment professionals and to be responsible for the implementation, on-going management and portfolio construction capabilities of some of CIM’s Equity and Balanced strategies. The candidate will be responsible for the daily management of CIM portfolios under the guidance of a senior portfolio manager. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Daily portfolio implementation and management of model/custom accounts for assigned Equity Portfolio Strategies, whilst minimizing business risk.
  • Implement strategy of model portfolios into customized mandates taking into account investment restrictions and regulatory constraints
  • Perform daily reconciliation for accounts, monitor daily cash transactions and report on overdrafts. Monitor and react to cash additions and withdrawals.
  • Act as an intermediary between other PMs in team and operations on administrative matters (i.e.- money transfers, other banking activities, etc.)
  • Prepare materials for internal Investment Oversight meetings (SIO Reviews)
  • Participate in investment meetings and work closely with other CIM portfolio managers and analysts to discuss views on market events and research
  • Contribute to overall investment strategy, design, and implementation of portfolio and risk guidelines
  • Assist with prospect / client interactions and support of sales / marketing initiatives (through preparation of pitches and portfolio reviews)
  • Stay abreast of trends and news, maintain pro-active views, and communicate conclusions / recommendations to investment team
  • Monitor existing investments and industry developments
  • Interface with internal clients to support new business activities and client retention initiatives
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency


  • Expert Charles River experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work hard both independently and as part of a team. Strong and demonstrable work ethic is essential
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of current appropriate regulations is a pre-requisite
  • Experience in the asset management industry
  • Good academic record. Intellectually curious.
  • Bachelor's/University degree
  • CFA preferred, or eagerness to pursue
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal relationship management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and technical insight - demonstrable mental acuity and flexibility
  • Passion for markets and investing. Eagerness to pursue a career in portfolio management (as opposed to relationship management or sales)
  • Strong PC skills including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Some programming experience, such as Visual Basic or Python would be useful.
