SVP, C14 – Risk Credit Officer and Head of Risk Intelligence and Credit Portfolio Oversight
Citi Global Wealth (CGW) is a single, integrated platform serving clients across the wealth continuum, from the affluent segment to ultra-high net worth clients. CGW comprises Citi Private Bank, Citigold, Citigold Private Client and International Personal Banking.
The CGW Risk Credit Officer and Head of Risk Intelligence and Credit Portfolio Oversight is accountable for managing and monitor the Citi Global Wealth (CGW) credit portfolio within the assigned geographic scope; along with maintaining the overall control environment in line with established policies, processes and procedures. Provides challenge to first line of defense on credit portfolio and product metrics and credit controls execution, leads credit risk portfolio oversight activities, supports global initiatives with a broader application to core credit risk activities, and participates in credit related global forums to ensure adequate CGW Risk involvement in global initiatives.
Requires prior credit experience, ability to provide credible challenge to 1LoD, lead projects, engage with cross-functional teams, and excellent communication skills to guide and influence others.
Leads and directs a team of professionals and is accountable for the end results of the team.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with CGW Business to understand credit requests, provide credible challenge to 1LoD, and approve credit transactions
- Assess accuracy and appropriateness of risk ratings and classifications of the assigned portfolios
- Analyze transactions and assist in structuring transactions to contain Citi’s credit risk within acceptable parameters
- Work in partnership with the Business, while maintaining an independent and holistic risk perspective of the assigned portfolio
- Lead portfolio monitoring activities in the NAM region, including ongoing review of key risk metrics, understanding drivers, identifying trends and data quality issues, and engaging with various groups responsible for remediation.
- Support Product Risk Managers in the oversight activities for relevant product Programs, including portfolio reviews, product program changes/renewals, review of product metrics, among others
- Operate under the risk governance framework, adhering to policies and standards applicable to CGW when performing the job function and provide subject matter expertise to first line of defense
- Possess subject matter expertise in the flow of credit data attributes in downstream credit and reporting systems and use knowledge to drive change.
- Provide risk assessment and analytical support for specific projects across Citi Global Wealth Risk North America and globally
- Coordinate regional activities including CGW Risk capacity assessment, maintain and provide training on regional guidelines, among others
- Provide risk review and challenge for credit portfolio and product metrics and 1LoD portfolio management and execution of controls
- Support initiatives with global scope with a broader application to core credit risk activities, such as Risk Ratings and exceptions management
- Participate in credit related global forums to ensure adequate CGW Risk involvement in global initiatives and remediation plans
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in credit risk management or equivalent training
- Experience in the financial services industry preferred
- Demonstrated accountability for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/geographic regions
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Proven negotiation skills often used at a senior level
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with urgency
- Ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audiences
- Ability to recruit, train, and mentor teams of professionals
- Senior Credit Officer designation or demonstrable ability to complete requirements and progress to award of that designation within acceptable time frame
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience. Field of study in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Business or similar
- Master's degree preferred
