The KYC Operations Associate Analyst is an entry-level position responsible for participating in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) monitoring, governance, oversight and regulatory reporting activities in coordination with the Compliance and Control team. The overall objective of this role is to assist in the development and management of a dedicated internal KYC (Know Your Client) program at Citi.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct reviews of client account activity, statements, internet research, and client profile information
  • Conduct background checks/intelligence/customer research/transactional analysis
  • Conduct regulatory and sanction screenings as well as review domestic consumer cases and support complex periodic review processes
  • Escalate unusual activity to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and assist with escalating potential risks
  • Support periodic review triage processes
  • Present summarized findings to peers and management, including recommendations to changes in procedures resulting from review findings and quality assurance review of analyst case work
  • Onboard/train new associates, as needed
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience in financial Crimes, AML Investigations, or Operational Risk experience
  • CAMS/CFE certification preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • The SPF team is responsible for performing risk mitigating reviews for high valued clients identified as Senior Public Figures.  This team also performs a block process when required documentation is not obtained. 
  • The Escalations Team is responsible for closure reviews and responding to consumer requests for closure reasons. This team also handles reopens of any closures processed incorrectly, as well as complaints oversight and reporting for escalated concerns, correspondence for KYC, and call listening for missed complaints.
  • The Closures team is responsible for verifying true hits from customers, identify and verifying the risk and either sending back or closing of those items. Due to the specialized nature of the process we are looking for people with previous escalation or AML/KYC experience since we do not have people able to support maker training.
  • The Sustainability team is in charge of making sure the department as a whole is hitting out Service Level Agreement timeframes. As a maker on this team you will be responsible for working records BAU but you will also be responsible for taking over records of all different kinds that are coming due and making sure those are completed in a timely manner. There will also be times where you will be responsible for certain projects that include things such as mass SLA adjustments, que movements, etc. For this group it is imperative that you have great time management and understand how to prioritize your work.
  • The MRC/Elite team is responsible for preforming risk mitigating reviews for high value VIP clients and clients that have multiple relationships with Citi. This team also performs outreach to Account/Relationship managers to ensure all information on the account is accurate.
