Role Summary:

The Retail Services Chief Risk Officer is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic executive leader to be Senior Risk Lead for the Macy’s portfolio. This critical risk leadership role will be responsible for leading a best-in-class team that drives sustainable growth within Citi’s Risk Appetite, supported by the power of analytics, effective governance, customer focus, and strong partnerships across the enterprise. The incumbent will manage the acquisitions and account management of the Macy’s portfolio ($7+B in loans) consisting of private label and cobrand products, while maintaining and continuously improving a strong, forward-compatible risk management culture and control/compliance environment across the franchise.

The pace, breadth, and complexity of challenges that the Risk Management organization must address continue to expand rapidly.  The Macy’s Senior Risk Lead will be responsible for appropriately assessing the dynamic evolution of consumer behavior (e.g., spend and payment patterns), protecting customers and the franchise by identifying and mitigating the impact of macroeconomic declines and adhering to regulatory and policy requirements.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Partnering with the Macy’s General Manager, cross-functional partners, and stakeholders to deliver sustained growth through prudent risk practices
  • Leading a best-in-class Risk team accountable for all related risk categories (credit, operational, etc.)
  • New Account strategy development and execution across all customer channels, including digital, store and in partnership with the business
  • Existing Customer Account Management strategy development and execution, key to which are: Exposure Management, Authorization Strategy, Balance Consolidation, Sales Growth Initiatives
  • Delivery of strategic initiatives and management of new and emerging risks
  • Ensuring a consistent and strong control environment 
  • Partner with modeling team on new tools, machine learning techniques and alternative data
  • Represent Risk Management at regular executive and committee meetings with the Partner 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant risk management or financial services experience required
  • 5+ years of people management experience, including experience as a manager of managers
  • Knowledge of card P&L dynamics and the interaction of consumer behaviors, product configuration and the macroeconomic environment
  • Demonstrated experience in leading change, with a track record of identifying and implementing opportunities to improve business operations and performance
  • Demonstrated success in managing partner relationships
  • Working knowledge of the applicable laws and regulations that govern lending in a large financial institution
  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree, MBA/MS preferred in risk management, finance, engineering, mathematics, or statistics

  • Capable of effectively managing a significant team size dispersed across multiple geographical locations, with an ability to continually elevate performance standards
  • Contributes to a positive work environment; shares knowledge and supports diversity
