Job Purpose/Overview:
The Citigroup Global Markets Europe AG (CGME) Data Governance Specialist will improve data governance through transformation and data programme deliveries for CGME. The individual will be responsible for working with key businesses, products and functions to drive measurable improvements in data quality and ensure alignment and consistency of approach across multiple entities.
The position requires a good understanding of the strategic direction of Citi’s Global Data Programme and broader businesses to identify near and long-term data priorities that deliver tangible improvements in commercial processes and regulatory reporting.
The role also includes responsibility for driving components of the CGME’s BCBS 239 programme by partnering with business counterparts in the regions to deliver the BCBS playbook. Excellent communication skills are required in order to communicate and negotiate internally, often at a senior level.
External communication/presentation with regulatory bodies and additional 3rd parties is also a possibility.
This is very much a ‘hands on’ role which will require elements of business analysis, root cause analysis and evaluation of solutions to improve data quality within CGME. Close collaboration with global functions such as Finance, Risk and Technology will be required, and this role will likely interface with 2nd/3rd Line of Defense teams so previously experience in this regard would be advantageous. The role will report to the EMEA Data Governance Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creation, ownership and management of project plans, issues lists, and key metrics that ensure CGME 239 Programme delivery and efficiency
- Delivery of CGME focused data governance activities, principles, policy, practices and standards
- Execution of data strategy, engage and mobilize business/product/function partners and their respective Data Governance Officers
- Daily delivery / SME on data specific projects (e.g., SME on BCBS 239 and other Strategic Projects)
- Develop and Coordinate Materials for Senior Management meetings, as well as discussions with regulators
- Leverage UK/EMEA Data and Transformation Team (CDO) support and manage relationships with business and functional leaders to drive progress on CGME data quality initiatives
- Engage and work with a wide set of Citi constituents and data providers to mobilize and implement data quality solutions
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation
- Safeguard CGME, their clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Adhere with Citi project/PMO standards for delivery updates, progress, risks
Experience, skills and capabilities
- Significant banking or financial services experience
- Experience with cross-functional / business delivery, ideally with a large data component
- Project/Programme Management and Business Analysis experience
- Good knowledge of investment banking products and the front to back data supply chain into Risk and Finance
- The ability to work independently but also as part of a broader team (with local and functional matrix reporting lines)
- Curious, interested, tenacious, inventive and resolute
- Strong team ethic
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
