The IT Group Manager – Markets Equities Technology Head is a senior management-level position responsible for liaising between business users and technologists to exchange information in a concise, logical, and understandable way in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to own and maintain the relationship with the Cash Equities and Equities Derivatives businesses, overseeing their technology IT Portfolio, including day-to-day electronic execution and the implementation of projects and long-term strategic planning in developing high-impact initiatives to grow the business.
Responsibilities:
- The candidate will act as the technology trusted advisor, being the subject matter expert for all phases of the development and implementation process; and will provide strategic direction for the products of the businesses, based on such knowledge.
- It is required a deep knowledge and evaluation of the complex business processes involved, the core business functions for Equities and Equities Derivatives, their system underpinnings, and industry standards, as well as building relationships with global stakeholders in Business, Operations, CTI, Risk & Control, and all relevant local and global actors.
- This role will liaise with myriad technology groups downstream that service the corresponding lines of businesses and in that capacity to drive the results-driven execution expected. This involves coordinating with the Risk & Compliance, Legal, IBCO, Regulators, third parties, and other technology heads, local and global groups in ensuring technology contributions are successfully implemented.
- The position will be accountable before the business for the execution of initiatives in their book of work, their long-term sustainability, day-to-day support, and having robust delivery compliant to high cybersecurity standards.
- Manage multiple teams of Developers, Business Analysts, Project Managers and Application Managers, guiding them in all aspects of people management (Performance Evaluation, Mentoring/Career growth/Succession planning).
- Responsible for all technology assets that supports the Equities businesses ensuring the adherence to all internal and external compliance regulations.
- Advise Equities business team on how best the technical strategy supports business objectives.
- Provide Citi representation in the “Mexican Association of Stock Market Intermediaries” (AMIB) Technology Committee with the Local Exchanges and Mexican Broker Institutions
- Resolve issues that have impact beyond own area and apply in-depth understanding of business analysis concepts and procedures, particularly Production Support, Operations, and Risk & Control.
- Teamwork required to achieve objectives and influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, communicating with external parties as needed.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in people projects.
- 15+ years in a related technology role with commensurate project management, software development life cycle and application management experience.
- Demonstrated leadership track record for achieving business objectives.
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication.
- Knowledge of the Mexican Markets and local regulations applicable to Equities operations.
- In-depth understanding of end-to-end Brokerage Hose operation: Front – Middle – Back.
- Ability to multi-task & liaise with business, tech teams & other developers.
- Familiarity with Trade capture, trade booking process & data warehousing applications.
- Familiarity with FIX protocol and FIX trading engines.
- Familiarity with Market Data and feed engines for multicast distribution.
- Person will serve as the substantive analytical authority for analysis and to advise the Equities business in how best to partner technology assets with business objectives.
- Proven interpersonal skills with ability to partner and influence across organizational lines.
- Exceptional relationship management skills; must be able to address and resolve conflict while maintaining relationships.
- Proven ability of using complex analytical, interpretative, and problem-solving techniques.
- Experienced and comfortable interacting with senior Management (director or above), as the person will guide decisions by intelligence, policy, and business priorities.
- Experienced with Citi policies and regulations.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience in IT, as position entails technical expertise in technology/software and corresponding infosec challenges.
- Financial Sector experience a must (BMV/BIVA/MEXDER/AMIB/Local Regulation required).
- Knowledgeable of legal and operational framework for Equities and Equities Derivatives.
- Knowledge of Program and Project Management to perform the proper oversight and execution of the book of work of the Equities tech initiatives.
- Knowledge of SDLC frameworks.
- Advanced English proficiency required, to communicate with global stakeholders. Effective communication in English is required to articulate complex situations and negotiate their outcomes with stakeholders; even challenging tools, methodologies, and processes.
- Technical Skills to oversight the team and implemented solutions.
