The Relationship Analyst is an intermediate-level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The Relationship Analyst also serves as an intermediary in trading for clients. The overall objective of this role is to act as a strategic advisor to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with various internal and external audiences to ensure timely problem resolutions and to provide support for a range of audience needs and services
  • Perform financial and operational investigations, including credit, foreign exchange, cash management and trade services, ensuring timely resolution and client satisfaction
  • Assist Banker with the preparation of relationship reviews and client portfolios
  • Partner with Product Partners and Relationship Managers to perform various activities for Know Your Client (KYC) requirements, including timely origination, monitoring, renewals and completion across all product and marketing levels
  • Facilitate credit originations, credit allocation, approvals, documentation, bookings, fee collections and renewals for Standby Letters of Credit and justify exceptions, as well as credit allocation from Parent Account Management teams and Credit Risk Management
  • Identify revenue opportunities, position certain products with clients and monitor billing and service queries, as well as correct mapping/marketing hierarchies in Citi Investment Strategies (CIS) to ensure revenues earned from all products are appropriately reflected
  • Assist in the preparation of support discussions for clients, ensures designee approvals/deferrals in place, and ensure discussion is lodged in Citi Risk Approvals
  • Maintain and ensure that portfolios have correct marketing levels and legal structure reported in the appropriate systems
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Position Responsibilities

  • The RA partners closely with GSG Relationship Managers to develop a comprehensive understanding of clients and their banking requirements, helping Citi to thereby offer the best and most appropriate products and solutions.
  • Work in close cooperation with Parent and Regional Account Managers, and other key internal partners such as Product, Operations, Legal, Risk and Compliance in order to support the day to day operational requirements of the clients and deliver the best Citi experience.
  • The RA is required to have a confident understanding of Citi’s products, processes and policies, as well as being well versed in key local regulations, market dynamics and competitor landscape.   
  • Assist the Relationship Manager in implementing account strategies, client calling plans and deal pipeline management aimed at actively driving and optimizing client revenues and returns, whilst also achieving top levels of client satisfaction.
  • Carefully maintain a pristine risk and control environment, including all compliance, risk and regulatory responsibilities such as Know Your Customer due diligence, Asset Self-Assessment, AML and Sanctions related additional information requests etc.
  • Maintain close contact with HQ and Regional coverage and sales bankers in order to ensure we are delivering the Citi global network in an aligned and coordinated manner
  • Support Product Partners in originating cross-sell opportunities and be inclusive in delivering the best client experience.   

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Basic understanding of Corporate Banking products with focus on cash management, trade, foreign exchange and working capital financing.
  • Client facing experience preferred either within coverage, product or CitiService
  • Self-starter, motivator with strong sense of ownership and commitment to problem solving. Need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player able to work well with others.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively and efficiently whilst remaining calm and collected even during more pressured situations.
  • Basic understanding of risk management and financial statement analysis and continuously look to develop these skills and hone understanding of Citi’s credit policy.
  • Strong verbal and written English and Japanese communication and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working PC skills: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Required Licenses

  • JSDA: (Class II, Class I) preferable, or should pass exams after joining the team.
