Job Overview

This Automation Test Lead role demands hands-on expertise in Selenium with Java for automating microservices and front-end web applications. The successful candidate will also possess significant experience in performance testing using tools like JMeter and LoadRunner, alongside custom solutions. They will be crucial in driving shift-left testing initiatives and championing robust QA processes across development cycles.

Responsibilities:

• Test Strategy & Planning:

  • Define and implement comprehensive automation test strategies for microservices and front-end web applications.

  • Develop test plans, including scope, objectives, resources, and timelines for automation projects.

  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate testing into the CI/CD pipeline (shift-left testing).

• Automation Framework Development & Maintenance:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable automation frameworks using Selenium with Java.

  • Ensure the framework supports API automation for microservices and UI automation for web applications.

  • Implement best practices for test automation, including modularity, reusability, and maintainability.

• Test Execution & Analysis:

  • Oversee the execution of automated test suites and analyze test results to identify defects and areas for improvement.

  • Troubleshoot and debug automation scripts to ensure reliability and accuracy.

  • Generate comprehensive test reports and metrics to track progress and quality.

• Performance Testing:

  • Lead and execute performance testing initiatives using tools like JMeter and custom-built solutions.

  • Analyze performance test results to identify bottlenecks and provide recommendations for optimization.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and potentially utilize LoadRunner for advanced load testing scenarios.

• Collaboration & Mentorship:

  • Work closely with development, product management, and other QA teams to ensure alignment on quality goals.

  • Mentor and guide junior automation engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and promote automation best practices across the team.

• QA Process Guardianship:

  • Act as a guardian of the QA process, ensuring adherence to quality standards and methodologies.

  • Drive continuous improvement in testing processes, tools, and techniques.

  • Participate in requirement reviews, design discussions, and code reviews to provide early feedback on testability.

• Tool & Technology Evangelism:

  • Evaluate and recommend new testing tools and technologies to enhance automation capabilities.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging best practices in test automation and quality assurance.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of relevant experience

• Experience in test automation and programming of software applications

• Experience in managing and implementing successful test automation projects

• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
