Valuation Control Analyst

Locations: Budapest, Budapest Job Function: Finance Employee Status: Regular Job ID: 20197220

The role is part of the Valuation Control Group (VCG) team in Budapest.

VCG’s primary responsibility is to reasonably ensure that risk portfolios are fairly valued in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. VCG works with trading and quantitative groups to fully understand the impact of valuation uncertainty on the desk’s level of pricing and any accompanying fair value adjustments. The team also participates in the approval of new products, where appropriate.



Responsibilities:

  • Regional (in certain cases multi-regional or Legal Entity level) monthly/quarterly reporting on valuation controls and processes (Independent Price Verification, Valuation Adjustment Calculation, Fair Value Hierarchy Classification, etc.)
  • Actively liaising with VCG Teams (Equities, Commodities, Credit, Rates, FXLM) to organise and communicate valuation results
  • Performing certain valuation controls covering multiple asset classes
  • Ensuring a high level of accuracy across all reported numbers, high quality of pertaining commentaries, and adequate legal entity focus
  • Operating in a high-profile and occasionally stressful environment to accommodate timelines
  • Completing all tasks relating to the organization’s activity but not detailed in the job description, as charged by the manager, supervisor, or functional head

Knowledge and Experience:

  • A good understanding of (or demonstrated interest in) capital markets
  • Knowledge of or experience with capital markets products (Equities, Bonds, Options, Swaps, Futures, Forwards) is a plus
  • Strong data analysis, data mapping and reconciliation skills
  • Strong computer literacy, with special regards to Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Acces, VBA, or SQL is a plus
  • Exceptional candidates may be considered for the role even if not all requirements are met

Education:

  • University or College degree in economics, finance, mathematics, or a similar relevant discipline

  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical environment
  • Ability to interpret and analyse large-volume and at times complex information
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and control-focused mindset
  • Good time management skills
  • Fluency in English
