Product Control is the largest department in Finance primarily responsible for controlling daily profit and loss reporting, price verification and trading activity for the Institutional Clients Group. We work closely across functions on a daily basis (including the Trading desks, Risk Management, Operations, and other areas of Finance) and develop a deep understanding of the products traded, along with the associated market risks and accounting complexities.

Product Control - Global Process Owner (AVP)

In this role associated market risk sensitivities will be in focus as Product Control PAA Global Process Owner Team owns the Profit & Loss Attribution Analysis (PAA) process across functional silos, geographic and businesses.

PAA is the formalized process of explaining business-reported revenue with reference to underlying risk sensitivities and has become a significant area of focus both internally and externally. PAA is one of the key tools in enabling Finance to gain understanding and insight into trading desk revenues.

With end-to-end global process ownership, Product Control PAA Global Process Owner Team is accountable for standardize systems, measures, metrics, and reporting mechanisms of Profit & Loss Attribution Analysis. You will work on initiatives that coordinate areas of PAA process, procedure, controls and governance, driving change and improvement. You will have the opportunity to develop an unusually broad perspective of the firms PAA methodology, gain experience in implementing complex technological solutions, and have exposure to senior leadership.

In this position you will use and expand your experience and professional skills for the following responsibilities:

  • Define and drive implementation of robust PAA reporting controls and governance framework
  • Work closely and establish excellent business relationships with all areas of the Finance department, liaising with the MQA, Risk Management, GFST and MSST IT teams
  • Efficiently solve complex, ambiguous problems/situations and identify opportunities to add value beyond the scope of formal projects
  • Provide reporting or analyze data across key deliverables, including the identification and remediation of issues
  • Use effective escalation to ensure issues are highlighted in a timely manner. Focus on recurring issues and drive through enhancement projects and systems fixes
  • Subject Matter Expert for PAA related policy and procedures
  • Drive standardization efforts and work on ad-hoc projects to implement process improvement ideas
  • Provide communication and training for key policy and process changes
  • Complete additionally any other tasks in connection with the role but not detailed in the current job description, charged by the direct manager, supervisor or the functional head.

The ideal candidate for this position preferably possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • At least 5-7 years of relevant professional experience
  • A university or college degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science, or Engineering is an advantage but not a must as we are open to other majors.
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Confident analytical and communication skills
  • Controls focused mind-set
  • Strong PC skills in Excel, Word. Training will be provided on other in house and industry standard systems used in this position.
