The Private Banker is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Requires strong commercial awareness, as well as understanding of the market covered. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas/businesses and external customers.

We focus on the top segment of the wealth spectrum, and act as a financial partner for wealthy families, entrepreneurs, and family offices.

Citi Private Bank offers unmatched global reach, coupled with a full range of portfolio management and investment advisory services, an array of structured lending and banking services, as well as expertise from Citi's Markets and Banking division.

We are looking to hire a motivated banker into our rapidly growing Central European business, which covers 11 countries, including CE5, the Baltics and the Balkans. We welcome candidates with non-private banking background, who can demonstrate financial expertise, business development track record and relevant knowledge of the region.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Actively identify prospects and convert them into clients, establish a referral network both within Citi and externally, and gain introductions to potential clients, which generate new sales.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of clients’ businesses and sources of wealth generation, anticipate events in a client’s life and business, which have significant financial implications.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients who frequently seek strategic advice regarding financial matters, maintain full understanding of client goals and risk tolerance to ensure that financial strategies are appropriate while managing client expectations regarding what can and cannot be executed on their behalf.
  • Bring together the product experts to develop long-term solutions to strengthen relationships with the firm and help develop tailored solutions that address clients' investment, risk management, and financing/liquidity needs.
  • Direct and coordinate the work of the support functions – associate bankers, onboarding teams – to achieve the best possible client experience
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to team success and place team goals above personal achievement, build and maintain relationships with Business Partners, Colleagues and Staff.
  • Ensure clients are presented with seamless execution of internal processes and Citigroup services.
  • Understand and communicate the risk involved with various investment strategies.
  • Understand the broad array of products and services under the Citi umbrella.
  • Apply an in-depth level of knowledge in key investment and financing products.
  • Ensure compliance on regulatory requirements, appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Prior experience in private banking / wealth management, asset management and/or investment banking / capital markets with a high degree of direct client interaction
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of banking systems, platforms, and capabilities
  • Relevant work experience in or understanding of countries in Central Europe (CE5 + Baltics + Balkans) is desirable

Skills:

  • Proactive, initiative and driven.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Additional language skills from Central Europe are a plus (e.g., Czech, Polish, Romanian, Lithuanian)
  • Excellent relationship building skills (with clients, and across hierarchical levels and other functions).
  • Ability to cope with ambiguity & change – high adaptability.
  • Ability to challenge status quo and continuously optimize processes and tasks in own area of responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • A professionally recognized banking-based background in front office, investments
  • A sound understanding of processing within a complex systems environment

This Role is a “Controlled Function” Role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations 2014, 2015.
