Role Overview:

The Citi Belfast Legal department are currently recruiting for an exciting Counsel role who will support the Treasury Trade Solutions (TTS) department with a particular focus on Worldlink as well as commercial negotiation.

The primary focus will be in negotiating/reviewing legal agreements, product development for Worldlink and assistance with CEP related governance work.  In addition, the role will involve in assisting the review of new laws and/or regulation that impacts the Worldlink business and advising the business on the impact of such laws and regulation, including amending standard documentation to ensure it is in line with requirements and liaising with the Legal teams in the relevant EMEA countries in respect of same.


Responsibilities:

  • Work independently to provide legal advice in one area within a product or country or for an area of legal expertise

  • Analyze documentation against regulatory requirements and internal policies to advise business accordingly

  • Resolve problems, escalating to senior staff as needed

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


Qualifications:

  • Valid Bar license to practice law

  • Banking/financial industry experience or experience working at a large law firm

  • Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws and practices

  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication

  • Proven analytical and organizational skills


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
