Job Description

The Operational Risk Grp Manager is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.

Responsibilities:

The role is to lead the ORE Central Team and the ORE Central application. ORE Central is a global repository, workflow and escalation tool to capture Operational Risk Events across ICG Operations and Technology. To be successful in the role, candidates must have multifaceted skills and excel in the following areas:

Delivery

• Must be able to lead from the front and have a can do attitude
• Must be able to multitask and drive projects and teams to successful outcomes
• Must have excellent communication skills and work with various partners at all levels of seniority
• Must have excellent presentation skills, producing high quality decks and presenting to large audiences
• Must be able to provide regular and clear status updates on progress to management
• Must be able to familiarise with relevant policies/procedures
• Must be able to understand new policy requirements and evaluate impact to the application
• Must be able to review and contribute to procedure updates as necessary
• Must be able to become an SME on the application supported by the team, including all workflows, functionality and field level validation rules.
• Must be able to work with Technology partners to deliver bug fixes and enhancements to the application, including more complex design changes
• Must be able to articulate problem statements, evaluate pros and cons of multiple options and recommend the best solution to progress forward
• Must have hands on experience of SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and JIRA to be able to manage and prioritise monthly release cycles with Technology partners.

Qualifications:

• Significant relevant experience
• Significant experience in Operational Risk is a must. Other risk and control disciplines would be a plus – credit, and market.
• Experience in Internal Audit or Financial Control would be desirable.
• Expertise in the following would be beneficial: Fraud Awareness and Risk Management Operations and Systems (Information Security Standards, Vendor/Outsourcing Management and MCA Legal and Regulatory Compliance Management of a global operations and a complex environment that includes global teams.
• Excellent communication skills – verbal & written
