Team/Function Overview:

  • Surveillance function is designed to detect behaviours that may violate regulatory rules or internal policies and procedures.

  • When potentially anomalous behaviour is detected, the team are responsible for escalating the activity and working collaboratively with partners across the first and second lines of defence to determine the appropriate resolution of the matter, which may include employee discipline.

  • The ICRM Global Surveillance program encompasses a number of Surveillance portfolios including trade Surveillance, communication Surveillance, employee trading, outside activities and information barrier Surveillance.

Role / Position Overview:

  • Assisting team members with the review and analysis of Surveillance alerts relating to firm, employee and client activity. Properly documenting the review and disposition of the exceptions as well as escalating matters appropriately.

  • Gather and analyse data to assist in the firms response to inquiries received from Governmental and Regulatory bodies.

  • Supporting the compliance group in evaluating Surveillance results for potential problems, communicating findings to management in a clear and concise manner as well as interacting with audit, legal and other compliance personnel.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firms reputation and safe guarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Relevant experience required

  • Excellent Verbal and Written communication

  • Knowledge of Compliance laws, rules, regulations and risks.

Skills:

  • Competence using Microsoft programs (word, PowerPoint, excel)

  • Strong project management skills

  • Capability to handle multiple projects at one time

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; experience in a financial services firm, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof.

Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels within the organisation

  • Must be a self starter, flexible, innovative and adaptive
