In view of heightened expectations from regulators and to ensure a strong and consistent global control environment, the Markets and Securities Services business continues to enhance the In-Business Risk & Controls function.

This role will be part of the Commodities In-Business Risk & Controls team and will contribute to our governance and control framework. This will include running existing processes but also focusing on enhancement and automation opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a practically minded individual with organisational and data analytics skills and a keen interest to learn more.

The successful candidate will need to work closely with the other In-Business Risk & Controls teams and with the Business Managers as well as interact with Front Office and various other groups including Compliance, Operations and Technology.

We are looking for an individual who likes to analyse data, mainly from excel, look for trends and create helpful metrics in the form of graphs, tables, dashboards etc in a visually appealing way.  So you will need to be familiar with both creating the data and visually presenting it, mostly in PowerPoint.  You will also need to have good administration skills – be able to keep track of actions, chase people for responses, minute meetings and monitor and work to deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help maintain and further enhance existing governance and controls processes for Commodities, which include regular reviews of various databases, documents and processes to identify changes, documenting and following up on actions agreed. Produce, enhance and automate metrics and reporting tools for Management Information purposes.  We currently provide monthly reporting on a range of performance metrics and are looking for an individual who can use analytical tools (eg Excel, Power BI, Python etc) to help automate some of these manual process and provide the required metrics on a monthly basis.
  • We maintain a system of identified issues and the corrective actions that are required to resolve the issues.  You will help to track those actions and follow up with individuals on the actions they have agreed to take, keeping a tracker regularly updated with progress.  Additionally, look to create trend analysis and metrics around progress of the issues.
  • Collaborate with front office and related Functions partners to investigate operational risk events and resolve control issues.  Each event requires thorough investigation and reporting in line with Policy requirements.  You will support with the investigation and documentation, tracking actions required and creating trend analysis and reporting metrics.
  • Ensure procedures, process notes and other documentation are up-to-date and applied adequately
  • Look for opportunities to automate our existing processes, whether that be adding formulae to a manual process in excel, creating dashboards in Power BI that more quickly present data or looking to migrate manual processes into a more system based workflow. 
  • Attend governance forums and take minutes as required

  • Undergraduate degree preferred but relevant experience will be equally considered.
  • Experience in Commodities and/or Risk & Control functions preferred but not essential
  • Experience in data analysis to identify trends in data and produce metrics in a report format (MS Powerpoint or other)
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Database experience required, experience with Power BI an advantage

  • Good written and verbal communication. Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner to seniors and project stakeholders.

  • Capable of juggling multiple and changing priorities.
  • Ability to create sustainable processes in a Business As Usual environment to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
